IRVING, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl basketball improved to 7-1 on the season with a dominant 67-36 road win over the University of Dallas on Saturday evening inside the Maher Athletic Center. The Cowgirls controlled the game from start to finish, with stifling defense to hold the Crusaders to just four points in the opening quarter and only 36 total for the contest.
Abbie Crow led HSU offensively with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting, while
Avery Cathey added nine points on shots from beyond the arc.
Angie Sacco provided an efficient spark off the bench with seven points in eight minutes of action. Hardin-Simmons showcased depth with 36 bench points and twelve different Cowgirls scoring.
Defensively, the Cowgirls forced 27 turnovers, converting them into 29 points. HSU also recorded 16 steals and six blocks, setting the tone early by jumping out to a 16-4 lead after the first quarter. The Cowgirls owned the paint with 44 points inside.
Dallas was led by Gabriella Barrera with 11 points, while Sarah Mirza collected a game-high 12 rebounds.
Hardin-Simmons continues non-conference play tomorrow at Austin College in Sherman, Texas with tip-off at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
