HOUSTON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's and women's indoor track and field team had a record day from
Davare Payne in the long jump after traveling to Houston to compete in the FasTrack College Invitational on Saturday.
Davare Payne set the school record for indoor track in the long jump, eclipsing his previous mark with a 22-11 ¼ ft. jump at Houston on Saturday. Payne placed second in the meet and was fifth in the ripple jump with a jump of 47-1 ¾ ft.
Gunner Helm placed third overall in the high jump at 6-6 ¾ ft.
Blake Osteen and
Parker Sexton also competed in the high jump.
Emily Perkins led the 60m dash with an 8.32 time.
Mahdi Paige ran 8.34 and Avalin Griggs had an 8.65 60m time.
Emily Perkins led the 200m in a 27.13 time.
Riley Birck had a 27.94, and
Mahdi Paige came in at 28.26 in the 200m for HSU.
Ruthie Valdez led in the 400m with a finish in 1:02.18.
Riley Birck was just shy at 1:02.97, and
Alexis Heckathorn ran a 1:06 400m. Valdez also led the Cowgirls in the 800m with a 2:34 time.
Lenora Busby led the Cowgirls in both throws, with a 29-10 ¼ ft shot put and a 31-4 ½ ft. weight throw. Griggs and McKenna Fambro competed in the high jump and pole vault, respectively.
Derrick Crump led the Cowboy team in the 60m dash with a time of 7.11.
Donovan Simmons came in at 7.18, Rashar Stewart ran a 7.51,
Brett Zamzow ran 7.67, and Michael Chriesman ran a 7.75 60m.
Dylan Mann has a 60m hurdle time of 10.36 for Hardin-Simmons. Graydon Albrecht had a 400m time of 51.85 and
Angel Alvarado ran a 55.45 400m.
Graydon Albrecht led the Cowboys in the 200m, running 23.05.
Donovan Simmons ran 23.11, and
Derrick Crump had a 23.34. Rashar Stewart ran a 200m of 23.83,
Parker Sexton ran 23.90, and
Brett Zamzow finished in 24.68.
Tate Strange had a 2:05 time in the 800m run.
Noah Bela led with a 4:35 mile, followed by Strange with 4:38 and
Nathan Oxte at 4:40.
Kaden Landeros had a 21-20 ft. long jump and
Markus Stone jumped 17-2 ft.
Jahymeer Larkins led the throws for HSU with a 44-0 ½ ft. weight throw and competed in the shot put.
The next HSU track meet will be at Texas Tech on Friday, Feb. 13. at the Lubbock indoor track.
