ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy soccer team went down 2-0 to the No. 20 Christopher Newport Captains on Saturday night in Abilene.
Hardin-Simmons held up strong for the majority of the night, fending off 22 total shots and eight shots on goal by the CNU team. The Captains got two goals in the 37
th and 56
th minutes that were nearly perfect shots to take down the Cowboys 2-0.
The Cowboys finished with 19 shots and four shots on goal in the match. CNU led the corner kick margin 7-6.
Carson Null had an eventful night and did his best to keep HSU in the game, with six incredible saves and some plays coming out in the loss after starting the game at goalkeeper and playing the whole way.
The Cowboys fell to 3-5 on the season after hosting the No. 4 and No 20 ranked teams in Division III this weekend and will take a week off before hosting the ETBU Tigers on October 1
st for the opening ASC game at 7:30 p.m. in Abilene.
