SEGUIN, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl basketball team avenged their only loss of the season winning 57-54 on the road at Texas Lutheran on Monday evening inside Memorial Gymnasium. The Cowgirls improved to 6-1 and won their sixth-straight game.
Hardin-Simmons opened with a strong defensive showing, taking a 16-14 lead after the first quarter and carrying a 28-22 advantage into halftime. HSU led by as many as 13 points before Texas Lutheran responded in the third quarter, but the Cowgirls held steady and secured the three-point win after a composed fourth-quarter effort.
Senior guard
Jacqueline Berry led all scorers with 20 points, adding seven rebounds, four assists, and four steals while playing all 40 minutes for the Cowgirls.
Guard
Abbie Crow provided a major spark from the perimeter, scoring a career-high 16 points, including making four 3-pointers.
As a team, the Cowgirls tallied 13 steals, scored 22 points in the paint, and forced 18 Texas Lutheran turnovers, converting them into 17 points.
Hardin-Simmons will continue next weekend with games at the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas on Dec. 6, starting at 4 p.m. and will play at Austin College in Sherman, Texas on Sunday, Dec. 7 with tip-off at 3 p.m.
