BROWNWOOD, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl soccer dropped a tough American Southwest Conference road contest on Saturday evening, falling 1-0 to Howard Payne in Brownwood. The Cowgirls move to 8-3-2 overall and 3-2 in ASC play after the loss.
Despite a steady offensive performance, Hardin-Simmons was unable to find the back of the net. The Cowgirls generated 26 total shots, including 14 on goal, while maintaining pressure throughout both halves. Midfielder
Maeve Connerty led the attack with five shots and four on target.
Belle Floyd contributed four shots, and
Taylor Koch added three, consistently challenging the Yellow Jacket back line.
Howard Payne secured the deciding goal in the 82
nd minute when Abbie Wetzel scored off an assist from Alayna Lopez, marking the lone goal of the night. The Cowgirl back line defenders limited the Yellow Jackets to just six shots overall.

Hardin-Simmons will look to rebound as ASC play continues next week with Cowgirl senior day on November 1 at the HSU Soccer Complex in Abilene against Mary Hardin-Baylor at 5 p.m.
