DALLAS, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl basketball team was picked to finish second in the 2025-26 American Southwest Conference women's basketball preseason poll, voted on by the league head coaches and sports information directors.
 
The Cowgirls had 23 points in the poll, only trailing UMHB with 27 to lead. HSU had two first-place votes after finishing last season 19-8 and 4-4 in ASC play. Hardin-Simmons won the tournament semifinal and ended as runner-up in the ASC championship on the year.
 
Three Cowgirls were named Preseason Players to Watch, 
Jacqueline Berry, 
Caroline Croft, and 
Dylan Koele. Berry was the ASC Freshman of the Year and the D3hoops.com national Rookie of the Year for Division III in 2024-25.
 
Head coach 
Kendra Whitehead and the Cowgirls will start the season on November 7 against Texas Lutheran at home at 5:30 p.m. in the Mabee Athletic Complex.
