TOPEKA, Kansas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl track and field team opened the season at the Washburn Alumni Invitational indoor meet on Saturday.
Kylah Washington led the Cowgirls in the 60m with a time of 7.98. Haley Smith ran an 8.28, Mariah Boyd ran 8.29,
Avalon Griggs had 8.36, Nijah Martin ran 8.41, and Mahdi Paige ran 8.47 in the 60m.
Adriahna Daniel-Peeples led the team in the 60m hurdles with a time of 10.05.
Washington also led the team in the 200m with a time of 26.42.
Danielle Pena ran a 27.10, Faith Miller had 28.16, Sarah Mondragon ran 28.16,
Sophie Hale ran 28.34, Nijah Martin finished 28.50, and Madi Paige had a 28.76.
Pena led in the 400m for the Cowgirls with a 1:01 finish. Hale ran 1:04 and Mondragon finished 1:04 as well. Miller ran the 600 yards in 1:38.
Madisyn Taylor jumped 4-11 to lead the team in the high jump. Griggs cleared 4-9 ft. and
Janae Green jumped 4-9 ft. as well.
Smith led in the long jump with a 16-10 ¾ ft. jump. Boyd jumped 15-10 ¼ ft. and Annika Sowers landed a 15-5 ft. long jump.
Halle Bruntmyer threw the shot put for 22-02 ½ ft. to lead the Cowgirl team. Boyd landed a triple jump of 32-1 ft. for Hardin-Simmons.
