Box Score ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team advanced to the American Southwest Conference semifinal with a 3-0 win over the University of the Ozarks on Thursday evening at the HSU Soccer Complex.
Randie Dennison put the Cowgirls on the board in the 11th minute when she scored off a Rachel Bean assist. It was Dennison's first goal of the year.
The game remained 1-0 until the 63rd minute when Bean found the net on a nice centering pass from Aurora Arevalo. It was Bean's third goal of the season.
HSU put the game away at the 66:01 mark when Madelyn Dowell scored on a penalty kick.
The Cowgirls had plenty of opportunities in the game with 32 shots in the contest, including 18 shots on goal. Sydney Frazier stood tall in goal for the Eagles with 12 saves on the night. HSU also had 15 corner kicks on the night.
Ozarks had only four shots in the contest and none were on target. The Cowgirls split the halves in goal between Kayla Gable and Haley Foley.
HSU is now 6-0-1 on the year and Ozarks ended its season with a record of 2-6-1.
The semifinals and final of the tournament will be played at UT Dallas in Richardson on April 8 and 10. HSU will play East Texas Baptist. The Tigers advanced in penalty kicks over Sul Ross State on Thursday evening.
