Box Score ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team won 5-0 in American Southwest Conference action against Howard Payne at home on Thursday night at the HSU Soccer Complex.
In the 12th minute, Randie Dennison beat her man and earned the Cowgirls a PK and Madelyn Dowell drilled it into the corner to make it 1-0.
Casady Jenkins played a ball to Elly Green in the 20th minute that she chipped over the charging keeper to make it 2-0 Cowgirls.
Emma Thompson got her first Cowgirl goal three minutes into the second half after a feed from Michaela Sabrsula. Green ran by the defense to score her second goal in the 69th minute.
Freshman Chloe Devore got her first college score for the Cowgirls in the 71st minute to cap the Hardin-Simmons' win at 5-0.
The Cowgirls had 27 shots in the game and put 18 on frame in the contest. Howard Payne shot twice. The Cowgirls led with ten corners and the Yellow Jackets had two.
Haley Foley started in goal for the Cowgirls and got the win. Kayla Gable came in for the second half and had 32 minutes before Kendall Dowling got her first collegiate action between the pipes to finish for the Cowgirls.
The Howard Payne keeper Delaney Castor had a heck of an effort despite the score, gathering 13 saves in the 90 minutes of play.
The Cowgirls move to 2-0 and 2-0 in the conference. Howard Payne moves to 0-3 and 0-2 in the ASC. The next Cowgirl soccer game will be at Sul Ross in Alpine on Monday at noon.
